Bengaluru-based startup Beyond Appliances has raised $2 million in seed funding to revolutionize Indian kitchens with smart, connected appliances. Their innovative products, including an Android-powered chimney and smart hobs, aim to enhance convenience, safety, and functionality. Bengaluru-based smart kitchen appliance startup, Beyond Appliances, has successfully secured $2 million in seed funding to drive its mission of transforming kitchens across India into smart, connected spaces. The funding, which was led by Fireside Venture Investment Fund III, also saw participation from Dharana Capital and several prominent angel investors, including Shezan Bhojani, founder of Design Cafe, Saurabh Jain and Ramakant Sharma, co-founders of Livspace, and Chandru Kalro, former CEO of TTK Prestige.
Innovative Products Changing Kitchen Dynamics
Founded in 2024 by Eshwar K Vikas and Rakesh Patil, Beyond Appliances is setting out to reshape the Indian kitchen landscape with a series of innovative products that blend advanced technology with practical utility. One of the standout products is an Android-powered chimney equipped with a 7-inch display. This multifunctional appliance goes beyond the traditional role of ventilation by enabling users to access OTT apps, listen to music, set reminders, and even create grocery lists via integrated platforms like Zepto and Blinkit.
In addition to the smart chimney, the startup has launched smart hobs, designed with digital timers, whistle counters, and enhanced safety features such as Flame Failure Detection (FFD). These features not only elevate the cooking experience but also enhance safety and convenience in the kitchen.
Since its inception, Beyond Appliances claims to have sold approximately 2,500 units, with a significant portion (60-70%) of sales coming from Tier II and Tier III cities. This demonstrates a growing appetite for smart kitchen solutions outside major metropolitan areas, reflecting a broader trend toward technology adoption in Indian households.
Strategic Use of Funds to Fuel Growth
The newly raised capital will be utilized to boost the company’s research and development (R&D) efforts and scale its manufacturing capabilities. Beyond Appliances plans to develop more India-specific kitchen solutions, with a particular focus on AI-powered cooking assistance and the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
The startup has already filed multiple patents and is actively working on an exciting pipeline of future products. Speaking about the company’s vision, Eshwar K Vikas, CEO of Beyond Appliances, shared, “Our vision is to reimagine kitchen dynamics with technology-first solutions. This funding will allow us to bring groundbreaking products to Indian households while addressing unique challenges faced by Indian kitchens.”
Meeting the Unique Needs of Indian Kitchens
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Rakesh Patil highlighted the company’s emphasis on R&D as a driving force behind its innovation. “Our focus on R&D has revealed gaps that existing products cannot fill. With these funds, we aim to develop tailored solutions that enhance cooking experiences across Indian homes,” he stated.
As India’s kitchen appliance market rapidly evolves, consumers are increasingly seeking smart, connected devices that offer enhanced functionality and convenience. Shuchi Pandya, Principal at Fireside Ventures, emphasized Beyond Appliances’ ability to meet this demand: “Beyond Appliances’ unique approach to combining practical functionality with advanced technology positions them perfectly to capture this evolving consumer demand. Their strong founding team and their experience in kitchen automation through Mukunda Foods positions them uniquely to capture this growing market opportunity.”
The Future of Indian Kitchens
As Beyond Appliances looks to expand its footprint across India, its innovative products and forward-thinking approach are positioned to play a pivotal role in the future of Indian kitchens. The integration of AI, IoT, and smart technology in everyday cooking appliances has the potential to revolutionize how millions of Indian households approach cooking, making it safer, more efficient, and enjoyable.
With the Indian market becoming increasingly receptive to tech-driven solutions, Beyond Appliances is well-poised to capitalize on the evolving landscape of the smart kitchen revolution. As the company moves forward, it will be exciting to see how its products continue to reshape the culinary space, providing much-needed solutions for the modern Indian kitchen.
